Christmas in Newmarket and our 25th Anniversary of the Giving Tree Celebration

Saturday, December 7th

Holiday spirit comes alive in Newmarket this year with a craft fair, the Operation Santa Toy Drive, the Rec’s Annual Holiday Party and Giving Tree Ceremony and the Town of Newmarket’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, plus a lot more Merry Main Street activities will be added to the lineup as we get closer to the day.

8am-2pm:  Newmarket Community Church Craft Fair.  Local artists come near and far for this annual event.

11am-7pm:  Holiday Open House at the New Market Historical Society.

**2pm-4pm:  Newmarket Recreation holds their FREE Annual Holiday Party (this year inside the New Mill Space).  We will still have lots of holiday games, a special holiday craft, holiday raffle/s, and of course, a visit from none other than jolly old St. Nick.  So Ho! Ho! Ho! and be sure not to miss out on all the fun and colorful activities!

3pm-5pm:  The New Market Historical Society will be street caroling and roasting chestnuts on Main Street, as well as, collecting canned items to benefit the local food pantry.  Plus, the Boy Scouts will be collecting unwrapped toys on our Merry Main Street as well.

5pm-6pm:  Join the Town of Newmarket for the 25th Anniversary of the Annual GIVING TREE Ceremony and TREE LIGHTING Ceremony!  Come join us as we celebrate the gift of giving with caroling and the annual town tree lighting ceremony.  If you would like to donate a present to Operation Santa Claus, you may bring an unwrapped present tot he ceremony and place it under the town tre during the day or at night during the celebration.  We invite all residents to partake in the season of giving!

OPERATION SANTA CLAUS:  A holiday giving program run by the Newmarket’s Lamprey Health Care Community Support Program which provides clothing and toys to children in the Newmarket Community who are in need.  Bring an UNWRAPPED toy or gift cards to designated drop off locations such as the Community Center, The Stone Church and the Riverworks Tavern from November 30 to December 7, 2013.

NEWMARKET POLICE RELIEF ASSN ANNUAL STUFF A CRUISER: (with an unwrapped toy or gift card) will be parked at Rite Aid on Saturday, November 30th from 9am-1pm.  (Note: all donations benefit Newmarket families in the Operation Santa Program)

Hey all you good little girls & boys, we elves here at the Rec are busy checking our lists for our annual Holiday Party Festivities!  Just imagine 4 floors of Holiday Fun along with Rec Elves where children get to laugh, play games and win prizes, eat goodies, and see Santa!

Santa’s Sugar and Spice Kitchen: These Delicious Activities will include: Christmas Character Cupcake Walk, Colorful Sandy Santa Candy Making, Decorating Christmas Cookies in the Kitchen, and Rudolph’s Reindeer Food Making Station.

Tons of Festive Fun & Games: We’ll have many festive activities for all ages including: Lil Tots & Toys Play Room, What’s up the Chimney? Game,  Holiday Face Painting, Festive Nail Polish Salon, Large to Small Present Surprise Game, Trim the Tree, Pin the Nose on Rudolph, Arctic Blast, Holiday Hoops, Silly Snowball Toss & Snowman photo with Friends!

The Kids Only Gingerbread Craft Crawl Room: This is a very special gingerbread house in that it’s for children only.  Children are invited to crawl thought the gingerbread house door in order to make and create a special present for their loved ones.  Shhhhhh…. this is a secret!  Elves will be standing by to help each child create and wrap their gifts!

A Visit from Santa with Photo Opportunities: Santa Claus will make his annual visit to the Newmarket Rec’s Holiday Party so that all kids will have a chance to sit on his lap and tell him their special holiday wishes.  Bring your camera parents as there will be photo opportunities with Santa as well.  You’ll even have a chance to write a letter to Santa in advance and/or bring one with you to the party so that you mail it in our special North Pole Delivery Mailbox.  Also, parents would you like Santa to give your child a call before Christmas?  Just call the Rec at 659-8581 and we’ll let you know how to go about doing this. Suffice to say… we know people at the North Pole.

Goodie Baskets and Kids Raffle Table: Upon entering on the second floor of the Mill Space off Main Street each child will get one FREE raffle ticket to enter for the toy/present they would like.  Winners will be announced at the end of the event. You need not be present to win. In addition to our Kids Raffle Table, we will also be holding a Fundraiser Raffle for Adults.  We will have a selection of theme baskets and/or Gift Certificates from local businesses! All prizes will be displayed at the Holiday Party.  Cost: $1/ticket; 7 for $5; or 15 for $10.  Winners will be drawn on Dec. 19th and calls will be made to the winners. Tickets will be sold at the Rec through 12/19.
