Wednesday, March 28th

 Our first stop today is the 1761 Old Mill Restaurant in Westminster, MA.  What started out as a saw mill that

processed lumber for new homes in the area in the 1800’s has become one of the oldest restaurants in New England.  A charming and picturesque landscape complete with a mill pond and dam also offers a unique gift shop for it’s patrons.  We’ll have ample time for shopping before our lunch at the family run restaurant.  After our stop at the Old Mill we’ll be heading to Westford, MA to tour the Butterfly Place.  This unusual indoor garden is filled with butterfly species from all over the world. We’ll walk the garden path where we’ll be surrounded by hundreds of free flying butterflies also, koi fish and quail birds that live in this warm, natural environment.  Don’t forget your camera!

Friday evening, April 6th

The story of Brigadoon takes place in the Scottish Highlands where two tourists become lost on a hunting trip. Quite by accident, they stumble upon the enchanted village of Brigadoon and soon learn that it only appears every 100 years in order to keep it’s peace and tranquil beauty.  One of the tourists, Tommy, quickly falls in love with the beautiful Fiona and is torn about leaving his new found love and the mysterious Brigadoon behind. Supper first at a local restaurant.

Thursday evening, April 19th

We’re off to enjoy another great meal prepared by the UNH Culinary Arts students at the 180 Blue Restaurant.  We’ll be taken on a food tour of France for the evening as we choose from Steamed Mussels in White Wine or French Onion Soup for a starter. For an entrée the offerings are succulent Roast Rack of Lamb with a Cabernet Demi Glaze or classic Coq au Vin (chicken in wine). If those delectable choices didn’t make your mouth water maybe the dessert of Mousse au Chocolat will do it for you.  They also allow a BYOB policy so be sure to bring along a bottle of your favorite wine to enjoy with your meal.

It’s time for our annual spring trip to the Oxford Casino!  With over 850 slots to choose from and multiple game tables there is something for every gambler in the group.  The casino has recently completed their renovations and the restaurants are back open for lunch offerings or you have the option of bringing your own lunch/snacks.  It just might be your lucky day!

Wednesday, May 16th

Founded in 1969, Shaker Village is dedicated to preserving the heritage and 200 year legacy of the Canterbury Shakers.  Designated as a National Historic Landmark the village boasts 25 restored, original Shaker buildings set on 694 acres of fields, forests, gardens and nature trails. We’ll enjoy a guided tour of the village along with lunch at the Shaker Box Lunch and Farm Stand which offers sandwiches, soups, salads and baked goods. After lunch you’ll have time to shop the museum store featuring Shaker inspired crafts, some of which are handcrafted by regional artisans.

Wednesday, May 30th

The Maine Maritime Museum is located on a beautiful 20 acre campus on the banks of the Kennebec River. The museum is dedicated to promoting an understanding and appreciation of Maine’s Maritime history through exhibits, programs and boat tours.  Our docent will lead the group as we tour the historic Percy & Small Shipyard, the Victorian-era Donnell House and much more.  After our lunch break we’ll board the 75 foot Merrymeeting tour boat for a one hour ride where we’ll have a water view of Bath Iron Works, the museum shipyard and two lighthouses, Doubling Point Light and Kennebec Range Light.  A day filled with Maine’s rich seafaring history from watercraft and lobstering, shipbuilding and sea trade and we’ll hear stories about dangerous voyages to distant lands.  Don’t miss this great opportunity to experience the wonders of Maritime culture.

Everyone has been enjoying our social supper clues so lets crank is up a notch and have some dun! This month we’ll make it a mystery destination.   We’ll board the van for our mystery dinner with a few clues along the way to keep everyone guessing.   We’ll be sure the menu offers something for everyone.
